“I work with my clients a lot to get the plans to work for them. We create many options for room arrangements and how the building fits the site. After the client moves in, they usually remark about how well the building fits their needs.
But, there is a lot more to architecture than meeting functional and technical requirements, as essential as they are.
Determining the characteristics of a design is important too. What should the building look like? Will it blend in or stand out from its surroundings? Should it be open, light, and airy or cozy and intimate? Are the materials and finishes to be warm and rich or simple or elegant? Should the feeling be formal or relaxed?
These are the questions we explore as the design develops.”
